Paul has 27 years executive search and leadership advisory experience. A Construction graduate he started his career with Scotland’s leading independent recruitment consultancy where he specialised in the residential sector. He joined the main Board in 2000 where he was responsible for the Construction & Property division as well as the Executive Search business. Following acquisition by a global recruitment business in 2001, Paul relocated internally to London to launch the European Real Estate practice, eventually becoming Sector Head for Europe whilst still delivering senior leadership mandates for a range of clients across EMEA.

In 2007 he helped launch the European arm of an ASX-listed Executive Search and HRO business, developing and managing a number of different specialist sector practices (retail, supply chain & procurement, technical & operations, risk management) and continued to deliver strategic searches on behalf of global clients across the Real Estate space. He joined the Global Leadership Team in 2010 to take on the development of the Real Estate executive search offering across 18 countries and “join the dots” with the wider RPO and Workforce Solutions businesses.
Relocating back to Edinburgh in 2013 to help turnaround a boutique search and recruitment solutions business within the Real Estate & Energy sector, he returned the business to profit becoming Managing Director before deciding to launch Hanover Berkeley in 2017. Paul splits his time between Edinburgh and London (and international locations when appropriate) and is passionate about the sector he has worked in for so many years.

Chris O’Brien

A Geography graduate from the University of St. Andrew’s, Chris started his recruitment career in 2001 working for the Construction & Property Division of a national recruitment consultancy. He initially focused on the interim and contracting market becoming the highest fee earning consultant in the Scottish business and becoming Managing Consultant in 2006. At this time he managed a team of 15 consultants and continued to deliver individual leadership mandates on behalf of clients across the Residential, Infrastructure and Main Contracting markets.

In 2010, Chris took the opportunity to join the business that Paul Dixon had founded in 2007 and launched their Scottish arm. As Regional Director, he was responsible for establishing and developing a new client base and ensuring a cohesive recruitment offering across the rest of the UK, leveraging London Head Office relationships as well as driving local relationships in Scotland.
In 2013 Chris joined a small Recruitment Project Solutions business in Edinburgh, building their contractor base and launching an interim practice as well continuing to deliver senior leadership searches for his core client portfolio. He became a shareholding Director in 2014 and joined the Operations Board where he was tasked with diversifying the client base and improving margins.
Having worked together for 15 years Chris is looking forward to continuing to develop his working relationship with Paul as a founding Director of Hanover Berkeley.
